why a marquee wedding mIght be right for you!

I’m a weddings enthusiast who loves celebrations of all shapes, sizes and colours. If you’re expressing your love in a way that’s authentic to you and having fun while you’re doing it, then I am cheering you on like a mad thing! However, when it comes to playing favourites, I have to say that marquee weddings hold a very special place in my heart.

If you’re thinking about what sort of venue could be the perfect fit for your day, here’s my two penneth on why a marquee wedding might be right for you……

1: That “laid-back luxury” feeling

There’s something about being inside a space that’s been especially constructed for you that adds an extra air of celebration to an event. Marquee weddings can be exquisitely elegant, but they always seem to be the place where the party’s at, too. I love relaxed weddings with no stuffy sharp edges; and feasting and dancing under canvas brings this out in abundance.

2: A bridge between the inside and the outside

My floristry tends towards the big and the wild, and I love giving the impression of bringing the outside inside. Whether you’re putting up a marquee in your garden for an intimate, heartfelt wedding; or building one in the grounds of a grand and gorgeous venue for a separate place to celebrate, being that bit closer to nature and the outdoors is always a big plus in my book.

3: A truly blank canvas

Choosing a marquee wedding means your imagination can really go wild. You’re building this space from the ground up, so the layout, the style and the décor is completely up to you, with no existing features to have to work around.

The light, canvas walls mean that all sorts of colour palettes will really pop, and it’s the chance to think outside the box and get creative. Think coloured linens, taper candles, and of course flowers.

4: Look up!

Marquees, yurts and other tented structures tend to have beautiful high ceilings to work with, making them perfect to get playful with large-scale hanging installations. Music. To. My. Ears. We can create floating clouds of blossom, green and gorgeous chandeliers that look like they’ve come straight from an enchanted woodland, sculptural hanging globes that pack a colourful, textural punch, and so much more besides.

Getting clever with height and inviting your guests to look up on entering the marquee will make your event that much more immersive, as if you’re entering your own private world when you step over the threshold. That feeling is hard to beat if you ask me!
